WELCOME TO THE 2024 20:12
|
|
|
Thank you for your RSVP! We are looking forward to spending Saturday morning with you for your last long run or walk. We have been producing this free community run and walk (not a race) with the help of our fantastic charity partners, P&G, and several other great community partners for over 20 years and every year it gets bigger and more fun!
This year we are once again excited to offer you fully supported and marked 6 mile, 12 mile, and 20 mile courses that will take you along several portions of the Flying Pig course and beautiful Cincinnati.
We love that this event continues to grow every year! Please consider that when making your plans to arrive, park, meet up with others, and navigate the course.
Please take the time to read all of the important logistics below. These details will help ensure you have a fun, organized, and most importantly safe run or walk on Saturday.

|
This year the 20:12 will begin and end at Sawyer Point Park, located downtown about a mile from the actual Finish Swine
*We will be meeting in the sidewalk area in front of the grassy/stage area*
One of the benefits of being downtown is that there are endless parking options. From street parking (depending on street and time), garages and flat lots, you should have no problem parking close to the park early on Saturday morning.
This is also a great opportunity to test your Flying Pig morning parking strategy.
Just don't park anywhere that might get you towed, that would be a terrible way to end a great morning!
Carpooling with friends and Uber/Lyft are also great options.
A Few Parking Suggestion:
Park Place Parking Lot #31 - 500 Eggleston Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45202
Lot 5-E - 486 Culvert St, Cincinnati, OH 45202
East Garage - Entrances off E Pete Rose Way & Mehring Way
Central Riverfront Garage - entrances on Race St, 2nd St, and Joe Nuxhall Way

Bag drop will be available at the Fleet Feet tent. Please make sure to label your bag with your name to ensure it is easily identifiable. Also, keep in mind the group size. We have a little over 1,000 people RSVP'd for the event.

The restrooms in the park will be open at 6:30AM.
They located near the Cincinnatus Statue & just past the Purple People Bridge in Yeatman's Cove near the Serpentine Wall.
The Flying Pig Marathon will be providing a Port-o-let station along the course on Riverside Drive near Eli's BBQ.

|
People will begin arriving as early as 6:30AM. We will begin announcements at 7:20AM sharp. After announcements and a special send off from PigWorks CEO, Iris Simpson Bush, we'll ask people to begin self seeding in order of pace. Seed yourself appropriately. You will see the Fleet Feet Pace Group Leaders holding up blue pace signs in :30 increments. Please make your way to your planned pace.
The "start line" will be departing from Sawyer Point and turning left on Pete Rose Way for the 12 and 20 routes and heading out on Eggleston for the 6 mile route.
The Fleet Feet Running Club Coaches will be directing and sending groups off according to pace windows. They will be using megaphones to direct you, please follow their instructions to allow for an easy and orderly send off. We will start with the 7:00-7:30 pace group and will proceed down in :30 increments.
Because of the bridges and potential stops on the first mile we will stick to :30-:45 gap between groups to do our best to avoid bottlenecking during the first few miles.
First runners should be lined up by 7:25 AM as we will begin at 7:30 AM sharp.
All 20 and 12 mile runners and walkers will be off by 7:45AM at the latest. The wave start is designed to ensure a safe and easy start, please be patient the first mile as the groups thin out. Remember, this is NOT a race start.
The 6 mile runners and walkers will go off at 8:00AM. We will send them off in groups by runners, intervals, and walkers.

|
To respect our city park permit and to be consistent with the Flying Pig there is a course cut off time of 1:15PM, which is approximately a 16 minute/per average pace beginning at 7:30AM. If you think you may need more time you are encouraged and welcome to begin early, but be sure to carry your own water because not all fueling stations will be set up at that time.
If you are still on the course after 1:15PM time we ask you please understand that the water stops and other support will no longer be on the course. We must also be completely cleaned up and moved out of Sawyer Point by 1:45PM, so please plan accordingly if you anticipate taking longer.
|
|
|
This event is NOT a closed course and NOT a race. But the 20, 12, and 6 miles courses will all be CLEARLY MARKED with bright PINK, GREEN, BLUE Route Arrows on the sidewalks/intersections.
Printed turn-by-turn route cards will be available at the Fleet Feet tents in the morning.

WATER STOPS
& COMMUNITY PARTNERS
|
|
|
You can expect a water stop approximately every 3-4 miles along the courses. That said, we highly encourage all participants to carry their own hydration. There will be paper cups at each stop, but to be safe, carry a reusable cup or water bottle.
There will be WATER at every water stop. Some stations may have more snacks but we encourage self sufficient runners and walkers.
We have great community partners who will be manning all of our water stops along the route. Be sure to thank and show your appreciation for the following groups as you arrive at their stops;
Cincy Tri Club
PigWorks
Hyde Park Blast
Galloway Group
Girls on the Run
Aruna Run
Events like this truly take a community to pull off. To show our support and appreciation for the local charity partners who lead all of the on-course water stops, we will be accepting $5 cash/venmo donations on their behalf before and after the run.
In return for your cash donation you will receive a $5 coupon to be used in store at Fleet Feet Cincinnati on April 13th or April 14th.
The money collected will be split equally between each of these great local fundraising missions -- Aruna Run, Girls on the Run, & City Gospel Mission.

|
After you return from your awesome run or walk we will have post run treats to help you recover thanks to our friends at P&G. They have also donated free items to come and grab after you finish.
Stick around and enjoy your accomplishment with friends and celebrate your completed training and start of taper!
ASICS will be raffling off Fleet Feet gift cards and a one night stay in Embassy Suites by Hilton Cincinnati River Center (located in Covington right by the Roebling Bridge and 1/2 mile from the start/finish) for the night of May 4th.
LaRosa's Pizzeria will have a truck and will be cooking pizza on site to pass out after you finish.
Oxford Physical Therapy, our partners in wellness, will be available for post run stretching & evaluations.
A HUGE thanks goes out to all of these organizations and the folks who work for them for their continued support of this event and Cincinnati running in general.
|
|
|
Because this is a free community event all of the post run food and beverage has either been purchased by Fleet Feet or donated by our incredible community partners.
We'd like to specifically thank P&G for being supporters of this event for many years. Without their support, this event would truly not be what it is today. Be sure to say thank you to anyone you see on Saturday wearing P&G shirt or at the P&G booth at Sawyer Point.
|
|
|
Once again, this event is NOT A RACE.
We are expecting a LOT of participants this year.
This is not a closed course event, participate at your own risk. Road etiquette is a must and please use sidewalks and crosswalks when available. Most importantly, thank you for making Cincinnati the best running community in the country!
