Whether you are on a run, running errands, walking to your car after work or even relaxing at home, would you know how to defend yourself if someone made an attempt to grab you? What if the attack occurred while you were on a date, at a party or even at work?
Self-defense is a skill every woman needs to learn – and not just to foil an attack by a stranger, but also by a familiar face because sadly, women are more likely to be sexually assaulted by someone they know than a stranger.
Grab your girlfriends, mother, sister, daughter and celebrate International Women's Day with us at a special WAVE self-defense workshop on Friday, March 8 from 6-8pm at Thomas Hooker Brewery in Bloomfield
WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere) is an interactive and eye-opening educational self-defense class taught by expert Dominick Violante. Learn how to handle real life scenarios and protect yourself both inside and outside your home.
The class is limited to 100 women (ages 14+). The $30 registration fee includes the class and an after-party in the brewery’s tasting room. All proceeds from the event will be donated to a fund that brings the WAVE program to schools in Hartford so teenage girls can learn to protect themselves too.
Sunday, March 3 | 10am-3pm
Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries. This lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation. Will that one person be you?
The Red Cross's Save a Life bus is coming to Fleet Feet on Sunday, March 3. Help us reach our goal of 40 pints and make this year's blood drive our best ever!
Click here to schedule your donation time slot (use sponsor code "FFHART") - walk-in's are welcome to if you don't want to commit to a specific appointment time right now.
You know that goal you set to run a half marathon this year? It’s time to make it a reality! Training for the Iron Horse Half Marathon begins in mid-March.
This spring, we are offering two training program options: traditional and not-so-traditional. Both are 12-week programs combine proven training plans with great coaching and camaraderie. Check them out and see which one speaks to your soul (sole?) .
If you are looking for a running-focused program that offers company and coaching during the long runs, our traditional training program is perfect for you. This program recommends 4-5 days of running and one day of cross-training (on your own).
Led by the energetic Coach Claudia and a great team of assistant coaches and mentors, your Saturday long runs will be fully supported with planned routes, water stops and coaching-on-the-run to help make the miles fly. Mid-week coach check-ins will keep you motivated to do your weekday homework runs and provide tips and inspiration.
Begins Saturday, March 16 @ 8am
If you are ready to try a training plan that is a bit out of the ordinary (but a whole lot extraordinary), read on.
Coach Doyle is the head coach and co-owner of CrossFit Hartford. His training methodology is the magic behind the success of this program that consists of 3 days of structured cross-training to build endurance, strength, power and mental fortitude and just 2 days of running (much of your cross-training is done on Concept 2 rowers and Assault bikes). Prepare to PR!
This program is limited to just 12 participants so Coach Doyle can provide you with individualized coaching and attention. Your run days coincide with Fleet Feet's free runs on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings so while they aren't coached, you will have people to run with and routes to follow.
Begins Sunday, March 17 @ 9am
