HABITS By now, nearly 80% of people have given-up on their New Year's Resolutions. What was once a sincere desire to make positive change has been overwhelmed by life's swift pace.
Part of the challenge of resolutions is that we set the bar too high. We want to jump from A to E without conquering B, C & D first. Every goal is made up of smaller steps - steps that need to become habits if we truly want a chance at success.
If you want to lose weight, smaller habits include eating better and exercising. Eating better requires getting into the habit of shopping for and prepping good food so you can't tempt yourself with unhealthy alternatives. Excerising requires a habit of committing time to workout and following a plan that gradually builds in intensity.
Habits are the stepping stones to success. First concentrate on conquering those, understanding that it's not going to happen overnight. In fact, statistics say that it can take six weeks to form a habit.
That's six weeks of feeling like you are a salmon swimming upstream. It's not going to be easy. There are going to be distractions and roadblocks. You are going to feel unmotivated to continue. But continue you must. It will get easier and easier until it's just a part of your daily routine and ultimately the future you want for yourself.
The real secret to success? Baby steps.

COROS GPS WATCHES
It takes a lot to impress the Fleet Feet Hartford staff when it comes to GPS multi-sport watches. But five minutes into learning about COROS and playing with the watch, we were incredibly impressed - with the technology, capabilities and the price.
It had nearly all of the features you love on the leading GPS watch brand (heart rate sensor, performance metrics for running, biking and swimming, smartphone notifications, connected to all three GPS satellite systems) plus, an unbelievable battery life of 30-days in regular mode and 25 hours in GPS-mode.
Need another reason to consider Coros? Price is $299 for the Pace Multisport watch and $350 for the super-fancy Apex which features breadcrumb maps, sapphire glass and the Coros Trainer (like having your own personal coach).
