COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS
I initially wrote this intro about how the power of running lies in the community it builds. Running connects people, fosters friendships and enriches our lives, physically and mentally. There is something special about belonging to a group of people – a tribe – who understands you.
But the escalation of COVID-19 is threatening our ability to connect in person. The Connecticut State Department of Public Health is discouraging gatherings with over 100 people in attendance. Currently, our training programs and weekly fun run participation are under the suggested 100-person limit so we will continue to host those programs.
If those guidelines change, we will error on the side of caution and cancel large group meet-ups while being creative in setting up a virtual tribe because exercise and fresh air are critical to mental and physical health.
Additionally, we will continue to be diligent in deep cleaning and disinfecting surfaces in the store. We take pride in store cleanliness and both the staff’s and your safety.
Our foot scanner and Brannock devices are sanitized after each use and staff are washing their hands between each customer. We have hand sanitizer for customer use and customers may elect to keep their socks on while we take foot measurements and watch your gait.
Should you not wish to come into the store, you can shop with us online 24/7 – or call us (860-233-8077) to purchase over the phone and we will either mail your items for free or bring them out to your car if you are in the neighborhood.

IT'S NOT GOODBYE...
IT'S SEE YOU LATER
It is with sadness that I share the news that Nancy, our General Manager for the past 5 1/2 years, has accepted a position with Athleta. Her last day at Fleet Feet will be this Friday.
It's been wonderful having Nancy as part of our tribe and watching her transformation from a yogi into a runner. A favorite memory was when the staff presented her with a GPS watch after she completed her first 5k. Since then she has gone on to run countless 5k's, a half marathon and crushed a running streak to end out the year, earning her a well-deserved maragrita!
We will miss her energy, enthusiasm and laughter - but hope she will continue to be part of our cheer zone at the halfway point of the Hartford Half Marathon where her hugs were legendary! We wish her the very best and thank her for her many years of service and friendship.
