Strong core, strong marathoner

This Saturday’s Fit For Life Physical Therapy – MIT Education Program (August 11, 2018) will be at the Worthington FrontRunner at 6:00 a.m. Highlighted speakers include Courtney Ruppert from the System of Strength, Yoga Expert Marcy Freed, and Fit For Life Physical Therapy’s Sean Huffman
The first thing that runners and walkers think about when they think about strength training is their legs. Rightfully so, but too often the upper body and core are neglected when it comes to strength training for runners and walkers
So many of our every day activities including: sitting at a desk, working on our computers, and driving can cause muscle imbalances, weakness, tightness, and poor posture.
As runners and walkers, focusing on strength training for our upper body and core not only helps us improve our form but also make us more efficient runners
Join us this Saturday as we guides us through some exercises to help us strengthen our core and upper body and help us become more efficient and stronger runners.
Together let's have a great MIT season as we work towards our autumn half marathons and marathons. If we can assist you with injury prevention, maintenance, or rehabilitation, please feel free to contact Fit For Life Physical Therapy at (614) 981-1979 or www.fitforlifephysicaltherapy.com

When it comes to strengthening, many runners think the way to become a stronger runner is to run more. Yes, it is important to strengthen your heart, lungs, and legs by running more. However, to become a stronger runner it is important to strengthen the foundation of the body, which is your core.
