Choices, choices, choices.
|
I have made some epically poor decisions in my lifetime. Fortunately, I've also made equal parts good decisions in my life. Not one of them, good or bad, do I regret. Each of these choices steered me in a new direction. Each year I get to spend my birthday with so many of you. I'm not too big on celebrating my birthday. Maybe that's because I finally figured out that the fireworks aren't actually for me. This year is no different, except that it caused me to reflect on all that I have to celebrate. And it's been a great year!
Through all the twists and turns of life, my choices landed me here with you. And, there is no where else I'd rather have landed. MIT has become such and integral part of my life. I have the honor of being your coach. I met my best friend and wife because of MIT. And, of course there's my amazing daughter Harper. MIT has also brought my brother and parents to love the same sport that has been so good to me.
One of my favorite events of each year is the Westerville July 4th 5K. It's one of the few events where I get to step back and enjoy it as a participant alongside so many of you. Whether it be warming up before hand, lining up anxiously, or waiting at the finish for the last to cross I get to celebrate alongside you. I've heard so many of your stories. I've watched your journeys unfold before you. The changes I get to bear witness to are nothing short of spectacular.
It's these changes that Jenn, Tim, your coaches and I find so special. It's why we love what we do. Your choices take you in a new direction everyday. And somehow, they brought you to MIT.
What choice will you make next. How many miles will you get in today, tomorrow, next week? Where will you journey take you? It's up to you. I can't wait to see where your choices take you.
See you at the ext workout.
Jeff

Welcome to the third week of Newbie University in the Fit For Life Physical Therapy – Marathoner in Training Education Program. - We apologize for last week’s rescheduling of the Newbie University review of Nutrition & Hydration which will now be held on July 28th. The updated schedule can be found here.
- This week we continue our Newbie University with Strength & Flexibility including System of Strength, Marcy Freed (yoga guru) and Sean Huffman (Fit For Life Physical Therapy).

By incorporating strength, high-intensity interval training, core work and stretching + recovery, your “running & walking” fitness will greatly improve. To learn & practice some of these basics, please join us at Thomas Worthington High School this Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 6:00 a.m.
- Also, as a pre-read, please check out some of the basics for stretching techniques:
Together let's have a great MIT season as we work towards our autumn half marathons and marathons. If we can assist you with injury prevention, maintenance, or rehabilitation, please feel free to contact Fit For Life Physical Therapy at (614) 981-1979 or www.fitforlifephysicaltherapy.com

Hydration: Getting Adequate Fluids
Why do I need to stretch? Many experts agree that stretching reduces muscle soreness after running and results in better athletic performance. Gentle stretching after a race or workout can also promote healing and lactic acid removal from the muscles.

Cross Training A great way to help avoid the monotony of full or half marathon training is to incorporate cross-training to your routine. Occasionally, heading out for a swim or bike instead of a recovery run can give you a needed mental respite from the miles and miles of training on your feet.
