Everything else the First Time Runner or Walker Needs to Know
Last week Dr Bright taught our first-time runners and walkers everything they needed to know about injury recognition and prevention. This week our MIT sports dietitian Dawn Holmes taught them everything they needed to know about nutrition and hydration basics.
This week we are turning the agenda for our Question & Answer Session over to you. We would like our first-time runners and walkers to have an opportunity to select the everything else you need to know topics.
Please let us know which of these or any other topics you would like our veteran coaches Jeff, Jami, and Sean to discuss on Saturday:
· Proper shoe fitting, inserts, barefoot running
· What to wear and when to wear it
· Socks and Compression
· Road/trail etiquette
· Staying visible at night
· Music while you’re running or walking
· Foam & massage rollers
· Understanding the weekly schedule and how to fit it into daily routine
· Picking your training pace
· Why do strength work, cross training, or hills?
· Treadmill running
· When can I start doing trail running?
· Should I change to a mid-foot strike?
· Increasing your cadence
· Ramping up your mileage
· Recovery Time
· Mental tips and tricks to keep going
Please send your suggestions to sean.huffman@fitforlifephysicaltherapy.com.
