Thank you, MIT. Thanks for listening to your coaches and taking the hot and humid Labor Day weekend weather into account during our Saturday training session. Did you know that Labor Day originated in 1882 in New York City with a picnic and demonstration by the Central Labor Union to recognize the social and economic achievements of American workers? It rapidly grew across 30 states when an act of Congress in 1894 made it a federal holiday to recognize and appreciate the efforts of our workforce. It seems only appropriate to please take a moment to also recognize and thank our dedicated coaches. Those that lead you through the 20 weeks of race preparation are volunteers and we truly appreciate their help, without which we could not host a 350-500 person group run/walk every week. Thanks MIT Coaches!
